A small free standing 2 bed semi needed to be transformed into a 3 bedroom family home.The brief included a bathtub that would look onto greenery and, ideally, a sink at the kitchen window.

This gave rise to a small internal garden with a controllable visual connection between the kitchen and bathroom to monitor kids bedtime routines, and enabled the tub to overlook a green courtyard plus a kitchen sink with an operable window. The design also facilitated cross ventilation through a small green space and into to the rear kitchen / living zone knocking degrees off internal temps in summer along with a pop up highlight windows to catch northern winter sun.

The client loves; the large multi-purpose room at the entry which, for now, is a dumping ground for prams and kids gear but could be a study or separate dining room in the future; the second upstairs bathroom; and the play zone under the pitch of the front roof and dormer with views to their local cul-de-sac.
