Roseville College
Completed in 2024 | NSW
Adaptive re-use of an existing administration building at Roseville College to create a new preschool to cater for students ages 4-6 years old. The existing building is a heritage item in a conservation area. Originally a single dwelling home, internal planning and reprogramming required careful design consideration to deliberately maintain the ‘domestic’ scale of the new preschool.
From the outset a close collaboration with the landscape architects was paramount. Upgrades to the heritage building required a redesign of internal spaces to improve sight lines, compliance, and efficiency to be able to maximize functional, useful space and meet the growing need for childcare places in the area. Key works include bathrooms, food preparation areas, play areas and covered verandahs In particular, the programming of the outdoor play spaces and the sightlines to other areas, improved parking, and pick-up / drop-off areas for safer movement within the site. The site was approached as a broader master planning exercise, considering future growth and improved access and circulation throughout the college.
