The Arnavon Islands Community Marine Park is home to the largest Hawksbill turtle rookery in the South Pacific.

RODA Architects was awarded the project in 2023 for the design and documentatiuon of the ecolodge. RODA engaged a team of specialist consultants and has been working with them, The Nature Conservacy and the steakholders to deliver the project.

The Hawksbill turtle is an endangered species with a beautiful, heavily patterned identifiable shell which inspired our concept for the research centre and lodge. Specifically, the arrangement of the overlapping scutes, or plates, on the turtles shell reveal a relationship, or key, to the site planning of the project.
